Domain Connection

You can connect your own domain or subdomain to Gonzy to whitelabel the application for your clients.

To get started, click on the gear icon in the top right of the header and click on the Domain link to navigate to the domain page.

From the domain page, click on the Connect Domain button.

You will see a page where you can choose between purchasing a domain or buying a new domain through Gonzy. The purchasing of new domains will be released soon. So long as you have your domain already (and there many sites you can get a new domain from as needed such as GoDaddy) then you can connect your domain to Gonzy. Click the continue button to proceed to the next step.

You will then be on a page where you enter your domain name and select the platform where you purchased the domain from. When you enter your domain name make sure to enter it in the raw format. For example, if you domain name is website.com you should not https://website.com or anything extra - just enter website.com. If you are using a subdomain, then include the subdomain here as well. For example, app.website.com.

Click the Continue button to go to the next page where you will see two DNS records that you can add to your domain.

Here is a walkthrough of how to add DNS records to your domain that is purchased through the GoDaddy platform. Each hosting platform is a little bit different but the steps are similar and the concept is the same.

Login to your GoDaddy account. Once you are logged: navigate to the following url: https://account.godaddy.com/products. From here you should see any domains that you have purchased.

Find the domain that you want to connect to Gonzy. Note: if you are connecting a subdomain for example app.website.com then you will still select website.com to customize the DNS. Click on the DNS button next to the domain you have selected. You should be taken to a page where you can see a list of DNS records for the domain and a black button to Add New Record. First, check to make sure there is no existing A record which matches the one that you will be adding with the same Name because if there is one already then you will need to Edit that record with the correct Value matching what you can copy and paste from the values in the Gonzy app. If you don’t have an A Record already with a matching Name then you can create a new record type A with the Name and Value.

Once you have added the DNS records you should be all set on GoDaddy and its time to go back to the Gonzy app. Within the Gonzy app, click on the next button to go to the next page of the domain connection process.

You should be taken to a page where you can set the Title, Website Description, Favicon and Social Image. Set whatever values you like for these SEO settings and finally click the Connect Domain button.

Finally, you may need to wait up to a few hours for the changes you made to the DNS records for your domain to propagate. Once the DNS records have propagated your Gonzy account will automatically redirect to the custom domain you set instead of gonzy.com and you will see the SEO title, description and favicon settings appear which you set in the previous step.

Congrats! Now your new domain is all set!
